Men and Diets – Simple Meal Plans for Weight Loss

1

Society has always dictated that it is but normal for women to diet. Some even claim it to be a woman’s main concern. But when men start to think about losing some weight, eyes roll and heads spin. That’s probably the reason why most men don’t ask their peers about stuff like this. They are afraid to be branded as vain people who care about nothing but themselves.

Recent health studies claim that both men and women should really watch their weight. Being obese and overweight are two health conditions that bring about a lot of medical conditions you wouldn’t want to have. The scariest risks – hypertension, strokes and heart disease – are said to be the main contributors in the mortality rate. So really, the main benefit of losing weight is more of a health maintenance check, especially for men. (And let’s not forget the tummy bulge that men can become obsessed about.)

As with women, not all diet plans for men work. What works for one person may not work for another. But sitting down and thinking what works best for you is an easy thing to do. So before considering going to the gym, first think of how to change the most basic activity for humans: Eating habits.

Several tips and precautions for successful meal plans to lose weight are as follows:

-Be wary of low-fat diet schemes that claim instant victory over the bulge. Sure, weight loss is really slow – about a pound a month – and you can manage your weight by staying away from fats. But these diets make you lose the good cholesterol and triglyceride levels rise making you more prone to heart disease. So don’t lose the fat (in food) totally.

-High protein diets are good, especially if you go to the gym do workouts (or at least, you exercise daily and regularly.) Protein builds muscles and body fat goes down.

-Adding a low-carb diet to a high protein one is a good idea. A combination of these diets help one lose weight faster and also improves one’s insulin levels, lessening the risk of diabetes.

-Stay away from unnecessary calories. Soda drinks contain a lot of those. Also, if you’re a “sweet” guy, try to cut down desserts and all things sweet from your menu.

-Motivation is key. Without the goal of losing weight, a diet – no matter how relevant or clever, good reviews and all – will definitely fail. Self control is an innate ability, but it is also very easy to lose it especially when you are used to doing something and it comes to an abrupt stop. Sometimes, thinking about medical concerns – hypertension, sleep apnea, a heart attack – is also a great (if not a bit morbid) way of motivating the self.

The best diet plan is always to be in moderation. Eating in small portions at regular (and sometimes, frequent) intervals are considered to be acceptable by most diets plan. But eating healthy – green vegetables, fruits, etc. – is important. Add to that a healthy lifestyle – usual exercise, no smoking or alcohol – then you can expect to have a triumphant diet and be a few pounds less.
